This story starts off in a strangle-hold and keeps the reader pinned to the story, flipping page after page. I pretty much solved the puzzle midway through the book, but I was happy to keep reading and discover I was right. Besides, the author made it an interesting trip. I did have a couple of problems with plausibility -- all the romantic soul searching with nothing to eat or drink for 24 hours, while trying to catch a killer, break a white slavery ring, and keep from getting killed, was just a little too much, hence the missing star.

Fatal Freeze Love Inspired Suspense Michelle Karl 9780373446650 Books Reviews

I loved this story! It was a great debut that ensures I will be looking forward to reading more books from her. It had plenty of danger and romance, and the unique setting on the ferry made it so different from the usual suspense stories I read. If you enjoy Inspirational Suspense and romance, I'd highly recommend this book.

Rating 4.5/5 stars
Hits all the notes. Fatal Freeze draws you in immediately and doesn't let you go. The tension in the relationship between Lexie and Shaun is entirely believable and reflects the misunderstandings and misperceptions that so often create barriers between people. The action takes place in a locale that we can somewhat imagine but which still remains slightly mysterious. What really goes on in the confines of a large trapped ferry? It's part floating hotel, part highway, part industrial plant, part scenic platform, part restaurant, and full of the dark corners and closed rooms that speak of suspense but also hint of romance. What's special about the story is that the characters come alive through the revelation of their values and motivations. Fatal Freeze is probably the best book of this genre that I have read.
Wow! What an awesome page turning suspense book Now I am sad the book is over! This is well written. I loved the inspirational thread found throughout the book. The following quotes were among my favorites in the book. "I can only do so much, Lexie. I have to trust that God will do the rest." and "I'm saying I trust in His ultimate authority. God is the ultimate dispenser of justice. I'm hoping we take this guy down, but God's justice is what really matters in the end."
This isn't my normal reading, I confess that I know the author and I read it for that reason. However I did enjoy this book. The beginning was a little slow but then the action and romance picked up and I was hooked. I really liked that it dealt with real issues such as human trafficking and questioning God. In true Harlequin fashion there was a bit of over-the-top romance scenes where there is the typical brooding, pining, misunderstandings and incorrect assumptions but that can't be helped. )
I loved this exciting mystery! Lexie Reilly worked for an organisation who reunites missing people with their families. She got a tip where a missing teen could be found so she was on a ferry to the location when she ran into Shaun Carver. She had met Shaun 8 years earlier at a youth mission trip to Botswana. On that trip he had become friendly with Lixie's sister, Nikki, but dumped her causing Nikki to run off with the next guy she met. Lexie thought she had been kidnapped and hadn't seen her since. Unknown to Lexie, Shaun is now an undercover CIA agent who is tracking the head of a human trafficking operation.

This is a thrilling mystery that I didn't want to put down. The descriptions of each scene were so detailed that I felt I was there. But honestly some of the situations were so scary, I was glad I wasn't there. This pair was in danger most of the time and being stuck on a ferry with a murderer made their situation even more tense.

Lexie was a very courageous woman who was determined to hate Shaun because she had always blamed him for her sister's disappearance. She was pretty annoyed at herself when she was attraction to him. Shaun was also attracted to Lexie but kept his distance because he didn't want to mess up the mission he had been working on for three years.

I had suspicions on who the bad guys were before it was revealed, but I was wrong. I do love it when I can't figure out who dunit. It makes the story so much more enjoyable.

I am so glad that I won this book in a Goodreads First Reads giveaway and highly recommend it. If you like romantic mysteries, you shouldn't miss this one.
Love the book
I couldn't finish this book! It was so slow moving, and the characters were so hard to like. I thought if I waited a while and went back to it, I would be able to finish it. I really don't like to not finish a book! But I just couldn't force myself to stay with it. Sorry!
